Sometimes items are made for no other reason than it is interesting to look at - a curiosity piece.

The item to the left is an example of  nested Dodecahedra. A Dodecahedron is a twelve sided, 3-dimensional figure, and in this fascinating model, three Dodecahedra have been machined, one inside the other, from a single block of metal. It is a brilliant piece of work and one can spend a long time just trying to figure out how it is done.

These cubes are by the same club member and once again it is quite a challenge to understand the method of machining.

Hot air engines don't have a real purpose but they certainly have a fascination as they effortlessly rotate with a tea candle providing enough of a temperature differential to allow movement.
