SEVENTH ANNUAL TRACK AND TENT RUN

and Elevated 5”; 3½”; 2½”

Each August (07, 08 and 09th this year), the Society hosts visiting model engineers at its three day “Track ‘n Tent” run. For the first two days, there are just model engineers with the site to themselves enjoying “playing trains” and sharing ideas with other model engineers. (The third day is our regular monthly Track Day.) Southern visitors enjoy weather warmer than their states at this time of year, while members of other Queensland societies find it does not clash with their home club’s regular activities. Some camp, some bring campervans or motor homes; the Society caters for some meals – book them by 29th July – a good time is had by all.

Locos and rolling stock must comply with AALS flange and back to back standards. The track is not suitable for large narrow gauge locos and for safety reasons locos with ride-in cabs or tenders are not permitted. Enquire about your loco and rolling stock if unsure. We will check them to avoid track damage and prevent interruption to the day’s running.

The QSMEE track is located at 122 Warner Rd, near Strathpine, on the Northern edge of Brisbane.  (The track is in the Moreton Bay Regional Council.)
 
There are no particularly close motels or camping areas, though camping is available in the club grounds.  We have a modern toilet block and one shower with a LIMITED supply of hot water. 

Otherwise, book accommodation early rather than later, as this is the RNA Show week in Brisbane. There was also a large regional religious conference last year. The nearest useful accommodations are:
